———————-

The other month our social event was axe throwing at The Viking Axe in Macclesfield.

They actually hadn’t quite opened officially when we wanted to go so we were kind of a ‘test group’ and were the first customers ever to throw axes there.

Which is pretty cool.

They offered us a discounted rate partly as it was good practice for them to smooth out their processes.

When I first booked, the owner messaged me back with a few things to remember.

Including “Don’t have too much to drink before you come”.

A few hours later he messaged again, clarifying “And by that I meant don’t have anything to drink”.

Which, of course, makes sense when you’re wielding a weapon.

That’s really what he meant the first time.

But the phraseology left it open to interpretation.

Sometimes it’s worth making something super crystal clear – black and white.

So we know if we’ve done it or not.

Where we can give a simple “Yes” or “No.

“Eating healthily” is, similarly, open to different interpretations.

Interpretations that can, easily mean, we don’t get the result we want even though we think we’re doing what needs to be done.

That’s why accurate tracking of our eating can be so beneficial.

Clears away and ‘opinion’ on what we’re doing.

And just leaves cold, hard facts.

No equivalent of “Have I had too much to drink?”

Just simple Yes / No questions.

“Was I in an average calorie deficit?”

“Did I get enough protein, vitamins, minerals and so on?”

Simple Yeses or Nos.

Takes all the emotion out of our choices.

And all the confusion.

Sure, there are calculation errors throughout the process that might need to be factored in.

And, sure, it’s a bit of a pain to do.

But waayyyyy less of a pain then doing what you think needs to be done and then not getting the result you want, surely?

Much love,

Jon ‘Jorvik’ Hall and Matt ‘The Red’ Nicholson
