You ever seen that Eddie Izzard sketch “Cake or death?”?

————- Should I have put two questions marks there? “Cake or death?” was a question and I’m asking if you’ve seen it. Thoughts? —————–

Go check it out on YouTube if you haven’t seen it.

Tis funny!

Not now though – finishing reading this first!

You’ll be pleased to hear that I’m not going to give you that choice.

How about “Cake or exercise?”

Which would you like?

If you went for cake, you’re not alone – so did I.

I prefer cake to exercise.

Cheesecake particularly.

You might be suprised to hear that.

Most people assume that when you work in the fitness industry, you’re somewhat different.

You love burpees and chicken and broccoli.

And you’re not bothered about cake, sweets, biscuits, alcohol and the like.

Now, we’re all for exercise being as enjoyable as possible.

For finding a way to like it.

But it is, largely, a means to an end.

It’s done principally for the benefits it brings rather than the process itself.

If exercise caused you to gain fat and feel a bit crappy the next day, I definitely, 100%, wouldn’t do it.

Cheesecake and gin do the above, but I still do that from time to time.

The gin particularly.

So I’m doing that purely for the enjoyment.

Gin is more enjoyable than exercise.

Fact!

If I could get in shape purely by drinking gin, I would look like Arnie within a few weeks I tell ya!

When people feel that people who like exercise are fundamentally different to them………………

That they themselves are just unlucky to be someone who doesn’t like exercise………….

It becomes very easy not to do it.

When people come to the realisation that………..

You can make it sufficiently enjoyable…………

But it’s largely a means to an end to make you feel and look better.

So, find a form of exercise that you enjoy (could be our GTP sessions –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

And still go and do it when you don’t really feel like it because you’ll feel better afterwards and it’ll be worth it for the result!

Much love,

Jon ‘Did I mention I like gin’ Hall and Matt ‘Punching a baboon’ Nicholson
