One of the biggest ‘mistakes ‘ that people make when trying to get in shape……..

Is to just ‘stop’ doing something.

Stop having cake or biscuits at work.

Stop going out at weekends.

Stop getting take out.

Etc, etc.

All these things, of course, sound like great ideas.

And, they kinda are.

It’s the ‘stopping’ that doesn’t work long term for most.

Stopping leaves a ‘cake shaped hole’ in people’s lives.

Stopping means that the reason for doing something before is no longer fulfilled.

Whether it’s pleasure.

Convenience.

Or whatever else.

If that reason for doing something isn’t taken care of………

There’s a pretty good chance that, once willpower runs out…….

That person will ‘start’ again.

Willpower is a ‘finite resource’ after all (check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you’re tired of approaches that are just about using willpower. AKA hating what you’re doing ##

The key is to not stop.

But to change.

To replace things that still provide you with the same advantage.

Replacing lovely, yummy food that is bad for you with lovely, yummy food that is good for you is much easier to stick with long term.

As is replacing quick and convenient shitty meals with quick and convenient awesome meals.

Or completely different things that provide the same benefit.

‘Cake Time’ at work becomes ‘Check Facebook Time’.

Or ‘Chat To A Friend Time’.

Something that still brings you pleasure.

Just ‘better for you’ pleasure.

Don’t stop.

Change.

Much love,

Jon ‘McCrea’ Hall and Matt ‘Courtney Love’ Nicholson

P.S. Bonus ninja point for getting those middle names and why I’m using them 🙂
