According to the news “At least 200 couples in the United Kingdom filed for divorce in 2018 while citing addiction to online survival game “Fortnite” and other online games as one of the reasons for their parting of ways.”

They are predicting that number will explode in coming years.

If you didn’t know Fortnite is an online multiplayer survival game where you parachute into an island and attempt to become the last man (or team) standing.

Bit like Hunger Games but more cartoony.

I’ve played it with my kids (the older ones).

It’s pretty good.

If I let them, they’d probably play on it all day.

But I don’t.

They are kids though.

So I’ll kinda let them off not knowing when to stop.

I may be wrong, but if you’re a grown adult and you’re ignoring your spouse so much to play these games, then there’s probably some other stuff not quite right.

I can’t imagine many people were in perfect marriages before Fortnite (and other games) came along and ruined it.

It’s part of the reason, sure.

But, in most cases, I’d assume it’s more of a symptom than a cause.

Often the reason we give for something happening isn’t always the entirety of the story, at the very least.

As we’ve mentioned before, although our retention is good, people do, of course, move on.

When they do they normally give one (or both) of two main reasons.

Financial or logistical.

And whilst those are genuine things, they’re often not the entirety of the story.

Sometimes they are, sure.

But often not the whole conversation.

A high proportion who stop don’t go on to achieve their results elsewhere if what we see on Facebook is a fair reflection.

If someone was only stopping due to cost, they’d join somewhere cheaper and get results.

If they were only stopping because they couldn’t make our session times, they’d join a 24 hour gym and go whenever was convenient.

We’re not completely dismissing these circumstantial things – they are valid.

But there’s usually more to it than that.

Our members who are getting amazing, life changing results, rarely care about the slightly higher cost or whether they’re making the ideal number of sessions.

So helping people get amazing, life changing results is the key here.

If you’re a current member and are starting to think about doing the equivalent of ‘divorcing over Fortnite’………….

Then lets have a chat.

Let’s work together so you are getting those results you joined for.

If you haven’t tried us out already and are fed up of joining places in January that only care about your Direct Debit payment and want to find out more about somewhere that cares about, and produces, results, then here’s your next step –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting.
