I’m writing this blog in the Costa Coffee in Bakewell.

As I do the school run in the morning and help in the school in the afternoon.
So it doesn’t make much sense to come back to Macc inbetween.
I usually have a workout and do a couple of hours work in Costa.
## Before the ‘part time’ rumours start again – I do long days Monday and Tuesday, when I don’t have the kids, to make up ##
I’ve just sat down with my standard ‘Large, black coffee’.
An Americano I believe they call it here.
One of my friends jokes that I like my coffee like I like my men 😉
So, I order my “Large, black coffee” as usual.
And the lady says “Do you want milk with that?”
As baristas generally do a good 70-80% of the time when I order my “Large, black coffee.”
My wife usually shakes my head incredulously when it happens when she’s with me.

There’s two things at play here.
And, you guessed it, two parallels for you 🙂
1. People often live life on autopilot
Just rolling through life, doing things from habit.
Not really paying attention.
Not really ‘living in the moment’.
Stuck in a mixture of the past and the future.
Reliving things that have happened.
Thinking about that yet to come.
Not paying attention to the only real thing in life – what’s happening right now.
We do the same with food.
Mindlessly popping things into our mouths.
And regretting it almost immediately.
We’ve always found that the better someone gets at ‘being in the moment’……..
The more they can actually concentrate on and think about what’s happening right now………
The more they can be ‘present’………
The easier the decisions that help them become to make.
Just taking two seconds to stop and think;
“Do I really, really want this cake / biscuit / drink / chocolate / sweet / Etc?”
“Do I currently want it more than I want the slimmer / gels their body, more energy, better sleep, etc?”
The answer might still be yes.
But, from experience, taking that second or two to think about what’s happening……..
Makes a big difference.

The second thing?
I’ll cover that on Monday 🙂
