———————-

I came to a frank realisation the other day.

It was during our monthly Coaching Day.

Where we do our members’ InBody analysis (only one in the area innit), interpretation and goal setting (and a mini workout).

I was chatting to a number of people in a row who hadn’t made the progress in the last month they would’ve ideally liked (remember, we don’t pretend every single person gets amazing results every month like some local places do, despite them having no success stories to show and not many members).

Each of them expressed that they “don’t think portion size is a problem”.

Which got me thinking.

Because it has to be, really.

Actually in everyone who’s not losing weight as fast as they’d like (or gaining).

Although there is more to an overall ‘healthy’ diet than being in a calorie deficit…………

All the research shows we always lose weight when we’re in one.

People have lost weight while in a calorie deficit only having McDonald’s, twinkies and various other things you could consider ‘unhealthy’.

Their ‘portion size’ of those things was right for weight loss.

If you intended to lose weight by consuming 1,500 calories a day you could do so by having a Mars Bars (230 cals each) at each meal and a 2 litre bottle of coke (840) throughout the day.

If you had the will power to be that hungry all day.

You could also have 4.5kg of brocolli.

If you had the willpower to be that bored all day.

Or, of course, there’s an infinite combination of these and other foods in-between.

But, ultimately, it all comes down to;

Calorie density x portion size.

Adjust both variables however works for you so the other side of the equation gets you what you want 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Tugal’ Hall and Matt ‘Tsmouth’ Nicholson
