The human brain is a complicated thing.
All sorts of stuff runs through there on a daily basis.
Some helpful.
Some not so much.
The fear of failure is a powerful thing.
Actually, it’s the fear of been seen failing that’s usually the issue.
We try something and it doesn’t happen and no one notices, that’s no biggie, is it?
Unfortunately, it’s the fear of failing that often makes us ‘fail’ more.
And the brain is very good and picking out some perceived ‘failure’.
Losing 15lbs of weight in 8 weeks is amazing.
But if someone does a ’20lbs challenge’ and loses 15lbs, it’s easy to see that as failure.
And we know that can put some people off (don’t let that be you –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).
Trying to do something new for the first time can be scary as we’re worried about ‘messing it up’.
But we know, deep down, that it’s worse to never try it at all.
The problem with social media is we usually only see other people’s success.
Not the mountains of ‘failures’ they might have encountered on the way.
The missed workouts, the pound gained here and there, the PB missed, etc.
We know that feeling you’ve been seen to fail isn’t nice.
We feel the same.
But, if you’re making forward progress then you’re not failing.
Not trying because you’re worried about failing………
Is the surest way to fail 🙁
Much love,
Jon ‘Epic’ Hall and Matt ‘Safe’ Nicholson
