I’ve been on a bit of a rampage recently.

 

Clearing up little things that mildly irritate me or slow me down.

 

Nothing major but things that just take that bit of mental space and energy away from something more important I could focus it on.

 

I’ve installed Google Pay so I don’t always need to find my wallet.

 

Set a reminder for Wednesday mornings at a time I’m about to drive past a cash machine to get the money for Oli’s drum lesson (normally have to go out of my way later in the day when I’m in a rush).

 

Batched a few jobs here and there.

 

And, finally got round to sorting my laptop out.

 

It’s been getting progressively slower and slower for months.

 

It had become painfully slow.

 

It meant all the work I was doing on it probably took twice as long as it should.

 

Which adds up to a lot of wasted time.

 

I took it to the shop I bought it from as I wasn’t sure if it was still under warrante.

 

It wasn’t.

 

So the guy recommended backing everything up (already done automatically online) and doing a ‘full destructive wipe’.

 

Essentially making it a blank computer.

 

And then adding back in what I needed – files, programmes, etc.

 

I was a bit nervous doing it.

 

What if I lost stuff I needed.

 

Needless to say I didn’t.

 

And if there is anything I’ve forgotten, it’ll be pretty easy to add it back in when I realise.

 

And it’s like a new computer.

 

So much faster.

 

I can either get twice as much done or do the same in half the time.

 

Completely worth doing.

 

We can do the same in our lives.

 

Not literally, of course.

 

But we can imagine that we’ve completed wiped our life ‘clean’.

 

Given it a ‘full destructive wipe’.

 

Removed all that stuff that constantly keeps us busy, stresses us out and gets in the way of the other stuff we want to do.

 

There’s absolutely nothing in the diary, no plans, no commitments.

 

Nothing.

 

Then add back in what’s needed.

 

Add in the essential work stuff.

 

Family stuff.

 

Other stuff you have to or want to do.

 

I’m sure a high proportion will go back in.

 

But will it be all of it?

 

Every little thing we ever do now is essential or desired and ‘has’ to be done?

 

I’d be surprised.

 

It may be 80 or 90% that is ‘reinstalled’.

 

But that 10 or 20% of ‘space’ that’s created?

 

That can be the difference maker 🙂

 

The answer is never adding more in when we’re running at capacity.

 

It’s freeing up some more capacity so we can get more from the same effort (it’s the find out more meeting TONIGHT.
