I went to a funeral a few weeks ago.

An old friend dead from stomach cancer aged just 32.

I’m not going to go on about the whole ‘death thing’ as I’ve done a bit of that recently in our members only Facebook group.

More a song that was played at the funeral.

Funnily enough as his coffin was bought in they played ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra.

Which, by coincidence, you’ll be getting at my funeral if you’re still around and know me in (hopefully) 50+ years.

If you’re interested, you’ll get ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen as I’m rolled off through that little door to be cremated.

My friend had ‘Superheroes’ by the script as he was carried out.

So I downloaded it the next day and it’s been on my playlist since.

There’s some great lines in it.

One that really rings true to me is this:

“When you’ve been fighting for it all your life.

You’ve been working every day and night.

That’s how a superhero learns to fly”

Even superheroes aren’t usually born able to do everything.

Young Clark Kent honed his natural powers through trial and error.

As did Peter Parker to become Spiderman.

Bruce Wayne went through years of training before he felt ready to unveil Batman.

You get the point.

You only get ‘super’ at anything by practising it.

By ‘working at it day and night’.

Struggling to eat healthy or exercise on a regular basis?

It will only get easier by doing it.

Not doing it is a sure fire, guaranteed way to not get better at it.

To never find it easy.

‘Doing it’ starts harder……..

And gets easier over time.

Until it just becomes a way of life.

We don’t want it to be a lifelong struggle.

We want to get you to the point where you can fly by yourself.

So – not doing the healthy eating and living thing?

Get going now!

If you’re already a member and struggling, then talk to us and we’ll get you back on track.

Or, at least, do something…….

Go do a healthy shop.

Or a walk.

Get going at least.

It’s the only way you’ll learn how to fly 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Hal Jordan’ and Matt ‘Murdock’ Nicholson

P.S. 10 points for the superhero middle names.

P.P.S. No Alex – I won’t change our surname to ‘Hall Jordan’ 😉
