If, like me, you have kids, I’m sure you can identify with this problem.

If you don’t, I’m sure you can imagine.

Kids nowadays are obsessed with ‘Tech’.

If we let them.

TV, iPads, phones, etc.

If we let ours they’d probably never get off them.

Between their favourite programmes and games, they’d probably be there all day.

So, as I’m sure many do, we’ve set a limit.

One hour per day.

Total ‘tech time’.

Maximum.

A regular statement in our house though is “I haven’t had my hour”.

As in “I’ve had less than an hour of TV, iPad, etc and I want more”.

As I point out to them, that hour is a maximum, not a minimum.

They don’t need to have that much.

I try to explain that that sort of stuff is something to do when there’s nothing better to do.

As a society we face similar ‘confusion’ with our RDAs.

Recommended Daily Allowance.

How many calories, carbs, protein, fats, etc we should be having each day.

According to government guidelines.

It’s easy to allow our minds to use them to justify things.

“I haven’t had my sugar today” as a way to justify chocolate, biscuits, cake, etc.

A small (or none existent) breakfast used to justify the late night snacks.

As always, you can do whatever you like.

Tis your life.

But if you’re wanting to lose weight then there’s two numbers I’d recommend:

1. Keep total calories for the day (or week) on or under the amount you need to lose weight

2. Keep protein on or over the amount you need to maintain lean mass, allow repairs, etc.

Sure, there’s other numbers in there.

But if you hit these two you’ll lose body fat.

Simple as.

If you’re a member with us, these numbers will be displayed on the Home and Assessment page and tab on the app.

If you’re not, you can get a rough idea by using the free formulas out there, such as this one –> myrise.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/BMR.png

Then divide this number by 12 for a protein target in grams per day.

Simples 🙂

Much love,
