20 years ago I was sat in the cinema watching the trailers.

I forget what I was about to watch – possibly The Sixth Sense.

And a trailer came on for the new Austin Powers film (this one, if you’re interested –> www.youtube.com/watch?v=sM60ISd2_7U and, if you haven’t already, you might as well go click this link and get booked in for nest Tuesday’s find out more meeting –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

It starts off by looking like it’s a trailer for Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Rubbish One.

But it turns out it’s for Austin Powers and the Voiceover Man explains “If you see only one movie this summer, make it Star Wars. But, if you see two movies, see Austin Powers”

Which was, obviously a pretty effective approach as not only did I see Austin Powers as well, but I remember the trailer two decades later.

And it’s a good way to remember what to do to lose weight.

“If you only do one thing to lose weight………… be in a calorie deficit”.

Sure, you’ll probably end up doing more than one thing.

But if you are only going to do the one thing, that’s the one to do.

You may also choose to make sure you’re getting enough carbs, fats and protein.

And vitamins and minerals.

You might like to do some exercise.

Maybe try and improve sleep and stress levels.

Drink more water.

And various other things that should improve some combination of health, fitness, energy levels, mood and more.

But……….

From a weight loss perspective………….

We can’t forget that one thing.

We can do whatever we like…………

Any of the above………..

Paleo, keto, Intermittent Fasting and many others from the “I wouldn’t bother personally, but if they work for you………” pile…………

‘Paying a bit more attention to what we’re eating’ and ‘tracking accurately’ if you’re unsure from the “My cup of tea” pile…………….

But don’t forget that that ‘one thing’ has to underpin any of them for us to get what we want (weight loss)!
