I want you to imagine that you’ve just had a bath.
Literally imagine it.
Now!
Now replace the asterisk in the following word with a letter of you choice:
So*p
What did you get?
Scroll down……

…….
Soap, yeah?
Now imagine you’ve just had a three course meal.
Starter, main and pud.
Do the same with this word, replacing the asterix:
So*p
…….
…….
…….
…….

Soup this time?
That’s a fairly basic example of ‘priming’.
Giving you some information with a view that you’ll interpret some other information in a particular way.
It’s a very powerful technique.
People shown words such as ‘retirement’ and ‘wrinkle’ then proceed to walk more slowly, on average than those shown words like ‘car’ and ‘young’.
Food marketers know all about this and use it in their advertising to try to elicit certain response in you.
Crafty, aren’t they?
But the good news is that you can ‘prime’ yourself.
Research shows that if you shop whilst sad, hungry or annoyed you will, on average, buy less healthy stuff.
But if you take a few seconds before a shop to think about the body you’re working towards, you’ll buy better stuff.
Literally stop and imagine it.
How it looks.
How it feels.
What it can do.
What the opposite (or same, of course) sex think of it.
Then go do your shop.
Most people will think “That’s a good idea”.
But won’t do anything with it.
Don’t be ‘most people’.
Give it a go 🙂
## Most people will also not take this next step and start getting results. Forever putting it off till ‘tomorrow’ –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting ##
