I’ve mentioned before (and members will, of course, know) that I do a daily video in our members’ only Facebook group.

A week each per month covering the areas of Lifestyle, Exercise, Adherence and Nutrition (our LEAN System, innit).

————— It’s myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting to take the next step to find out more about how we run a programme and a system, rather than just give you a diet plan and access to some equipment ——————

Sometimes a bonus fifth week of Miscellaneous stuff.

The appear in the group at 6am each weekday.

So you’ve got the whole day (and later, of course) to watch them.

I, of course, use a scheduling software to do this.

I get little enough sleep as it is, thanks to my youngest son, to be manually uploading them at that time every day.

I generally aim to do them the previous Friday whilst at the club.

Then upload them to the scheduling software while I’m doing some other work.

That’s always the quickest and most efficient way to get it done.

The other week I hadn’t got them done on the Friday.

No particular reason – I just did something else that could have waited.

And I didn’t get chance to do them over the weekend.

So I did the Monday one first thing when I got into the club.

And the others later in the day.

And I’d only managed to upload Tuesdays and Wednesdays by the time I had to get home that evening.

And I then forgot to upload the other two.

What was quite cool was that by the time I woke at 7am on Thursday, I’d had messages from several members asking about that day’s missing videos.

Obviously part of their morning routine, which is cool 🙂

I realised that I’d emptied all the media off my phone on to my laptop.

Which is slow at the best of times.

And by the time I was anywhere for long enough to be on the same WiFi that day it was a few hours later in an internet cafe.

With relatively slow internet.

So I didn’t get much other work done while it uploaded.

I managed to upload the Friday one that night at home.

But when I woke on the Friday, I realised the video hadn’t posted, just the text description.

Things often seem to go wrong when I use the desktop version of the scheduling software rather than the app on my phone.

So, with my stupid slow laptop and slower home internet, took waaaayyyy longer than it should’ve done.

And made me late for the school run and the kids late for school 🙁

All in all, an unnecessary waste of time and source of frustration.

If I’d done it all, as normal, on the Friday, it would’ve been much easier and led to a better results (all the videos in the group properly and on time).

Doing things earlier often makes them easier.

Or no harder at least.

And can help us do a ‘better job’ for less effort.

When we leave things till the last possible minute, they rarely go as well.

Same with our eating.

If we wait till Hungry O Clock, then often the easiest option isn’t great.

It’s the staff canteen, or the coffee shop, or the skipping lunch and making do and cake and biscuits (AKA having cake and biscuit for lunch).

If we sort it ahead of time, it can often be a better result for less effort.

Not always, sure.

But sometimes definitely.

Find your equivalent to my ‘doing next week’s videos on a Friday’.

The Sunday night online food order.

The big shop on the way home from work one day.

The planning with the other half some of next week’s food choices.

That opportune time where it makes the most sense to put the same or less effort in to better results in the future.

And do that more often that not.

Much love,

Jon ‘Rarely late’ Hall and Matt ‘Late late show’ Nicholson
