At RISE, we’ve always had a very straightforward cancellation procedure.

There’s a form on the website that people fill in to give their notice.

We make it super clear where that form is where they join and will send them the link if they ever tell us in any other way that they’re wanting to cancel.

But filling in of that form is the only way we take cancellations.

It’s avoids any potential confusion.

People thinking they’ve cancelled by sending a message or “mentioning it to a coach”.

There’s no making them come into the club and fill in a form like at some places.

It’s as easy as such a thing possibly can be.

Takes seconds.

99% of the time when people leave they fill the form in no problems and it’s sorted easily.

Sometimes, despite me repeatedly sending the link, people don’t actually fill the form in and then are surprised and annoyed when the next month’s payment comes out.

Occasionally people don’t, in any way shape or form, let me know they’re having any thoughts about cancelling and then contact me later asking for their money back.

But we keep a lean budget with no ‘spare’ in and that money has already been spent on the costs of running the business.

A few times over the years, people have then kicked off on social media about this.

“It’s all about the money with them” has been said a couple of times (out of many thousands of interactions to give context).

Which is strange when you think about it.

What they’re essentially wanting me to do is give them money that I don’t have for no reason.

You could argue that they’re being “all about the money”.

And more ‘arguments’ can actually be equally (or more) true the opposite way around than we realise.

The reasons that we give for not looking after our health, fitness, energy levels and mood can often be the exact reasons to look after them.

“Being busy”, “having a lot on”, our heads “not being in the right place” and “not feeling motivated” are reasons to get proven help in changing how we feel and increasing our energy, focus and productivity across the other 165 hours in the week.

The reasons we give for not launching that side hustle, setting up that business, going for that promotion, having that awkward conversation, asking that person out……………
