Having four kids who go to different schools 24 miles apart is, as you might expect, not the easiest thing to manage.

It’s marginally better than it used to be when they were at four separate nurseries / schools.

It’s got a lot easier as they’ve all got older, I must admit.

The bigger three mostly get themselves ready now.

And we seem to have had a bit of a breakthrough recently.

A better understanding of the most effective order to approach the time between waking up and leaving for school.

We’ve had many times where different combinations of them have been drawn onto a screen of some sort.

X-Boxes, phones, etc.

And I’ve really hammered the point home that it’s not that they can’t do these things……….

But getting changed and fed and ready first………

Then filling the remaining time with these things……..

Actually means that they get more of that.

Rather than doing a bit, getting drawn onto a screen, me having to get them back off and then repeating this cycle………

Just do things in the the right order and it’s much easier and more enjoyable.

Like with many things in life.

Healthy eating being one example.

Often if we leave our food sourcing and preparation to the last possible minute, the easiest option isn’t ‘ideal’.

If we put a bit of thought and effort in ahead of time, it can often be easier to eat better.

A few minutes doing an online food order on a Sunday evening……..

A little bit of time prepping food earlier that day or the day before………

Then saving 10 or 20 minutes at Food O Clock.

Less time used overall for a better result.

By doing things in a better order.

Same with planning and structuring our week.

Putting similar tasks together.

Systemising some.

Less time used overall for a better result.

By doing things in a better order.

More often than we might like to admit, there’s a ‘better order’ to doing things than we sometimes use.

A bit of ‘optimising’ those orders can lead to both us getting done the stuff that we need to do for the result that we want………..

AND us having time for the more fun stuff.

Much love,
