I was chatting to a member after a session last week.

And they asked me if they would be ok going lower than the calorie recommendation we’ve given them for their goal.

To accelerate their weight loss.

“It depends” I began.

“If you’re happy maintaining that and then will transition up to something more maintainable longer term at some point, that’s fine”.

“If you’re liable to think ‘sod it’ at some point and just go back to how you were eating before, it’s not a good idea”.

Then a nice parallel popped into my head.

“It’s like limbo dancing. Go as low as you can without falling over”.

Some people will tell you losing weight too quickly is bad for you.

Usually people who aren’t losing weight.

And, sure, there’s probably a point where that comes true.

But we’re not going to go there in 99.9% of the cases.

And losing weight and then regaining it and more isn’t good either, of course.

But ‘limboing’?

Going as low as you can without falling over?

Maybe having the odd day of ‘standing back up’ in-between limbos?

Why not?

Much love,

Jon ‘Fun fact: Google informs me that limbo dancing originated in Trinidad’ Hall

P.S. It’s still a few weeks away, but why wait? The next find out more meeting details are up at myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting.
