Imagine you’ve got two pals.

They’re both in a race.

They finish at the same time.

Both setting PBs.

Exact same result.

One jogged at a steady pace.

One sprinted then walked.

Who did better?

They, of course, both did the same.

Which approach worked best?

They both worked the same.

The outcome was the same.

It was just a slightly different process that clearly worked for them, for whatever reason.

If one had got a rubbish time, you might question his approach.

But they got the result they wanted.

It worked for them.

It’s the same with Intermittent Fasting.

Skipping meals as it used to be called.

If it works for you, it works for you.

It’s just a way to create an average deficit.

Let’s say you need 1,500 calories a day to lose weight.

10,500 per week.

You can have twenty one 500 calorie meals.

Or fourteen 750 calorie meals.

Or seven 1,000 calorie meals and seven at 500.

Or fourteen at 500 and fourteen 250 cal snacks.

Or any other combination of numbers that works for you.

Despite what most FitPros will tell you, there is no magical furnace that’s stoked by eating six meals a day.

And there is zero peer reviewed research that shows, when energy matched, any meal size, frequency or distribution to work better than any other.

I know there’s more to weight loss the calories.

But let’s not forget that underpins it all and has to be in place.

Ultimately, it it works for you and you’re ‘setting PBs’, then crack on.

If it’s not, try some adjustments to your approach, whatever they may be.

Much love,

Jon ‘Like and Egyptian’ Hall and Matt ‘Triathlon’ Nicholson
