This last Monday I saw three returning members in the club for the first time.

One was back for her first session.

The other two had started over the last few days and it was the first time I’d seen them.

Both in conversations on the phone before they restarted and when I saw them on Monday, all three said the exact same thing.

It’s the title to this blog.

“It’s the only thing that’s ever worked for me”.

Referring, of course, to what we do at RISE.

They’d achieved great progress last time they were a member.

Stopped for a variety of reasons.

And, by their own admission, gone backward since.

And I’ve had this conversation probably in the hundreds of times over the years.

Because, whilst we can, of course, achieve the same results doing it by ourselves.

It’s probably not going to happen.

We’re not going to do the variety of exercise we do in Sessions in a conventional gym.

It’s easy to slip into doing what’s more comfortable and, let’s be honest, a conventional gym setup doesn’t normally make us feel all that comfortable at the best of times – we’re not going to be busting out the variety a wide variety of exercises by ourselves in the free weights area, surround by the “big guys”.

And that accountability and follow up from us has more value than we sometimes realise.

When it doesn’t really matter if we go for that workout today or not………

It’s easy not to.

Same with out eating.

And when we’re no longer surrounded by people who are doing their Sessions, making some better food choices and achieving some great results…………

The effect of that ‘collective momentum’ can be sorely missed.

Ultimately, I’d avoid the Fitness Professional that sells some sort of ‘secret formula’ that you can only get with them.

We’ve been able to get the information we need to get in better shape for free on the internet for over two decades now.

It’s not that we can’t do it by ourselves……….

We just probably won’t.
