So, it was Born Survivor again this last Saturday.

An annual, outdoor obstacle course mud run event at Capesthorne Hall held each year.

Something that for the average person who joins here is probably the last thing they ever thought they’d consider doing.

But that they become strangely drawn to when they’ve been here a little while.

To the point where we had 164 members (and some friends) on our team last year for what was one the the Top 10 global, all-time biggest OCR teams.

Born Survivor

Which, from a small, independent facility in Macclesfield which attracts people who don’t like that sort of thing, I think is pretty epic.

After three years of of it we decided not to enter an RISE team this year.

I’ve got something else to announce for September though.

Watch your email later today 🙂

Born Survivor 2018

I did think that, despite not mentioning it or having a team, we actually had more members at Born Survivor on Saturday than any of the local facilities that have been pushing it hard all year 😉

It was cool to see the reactions of many of them before and after, in person and on Facebook.

People like Emma, Ciara and Kelly.

Emma looked not far from tears as she entered the starting area along side husband Lee and brother-in-law Mark.

She was clearly scared.

She told me so.

But she did it.

She turned up to face something that scared her.

And she conquered it!

################

Most of the things our members end up doing aren’t so much about the thing itself.

At least not entirely.

It’s about who they have to become to be able to do those things.

Our members don’t do 10k in a field with loads of mud and obstacles for the sake of it.

They don’t enter power-lifting competitions just to lift bars up and down.

They don’t take part in any of the events we do just because they want to do the event.

It’s because of who they have to become.

To be the person that’s capable of those things.

Stronger physically and mentally.

Fitter, faster, healthier, happier, more confident and much more.

The Emma who walked into our monthly find-out-more meeting at RISE in Macclesfield a year and two weeks ago isn’t the same Emma that walked into that cage at 10.20 on Saturday morning.

And definitely not the same Emma that crossed that Born Survivor finishing line a few hours later.

And the Emma she has become has and will help in all areas of her life, I’m sure.

Remember, the thing is rarely the thing.

It’s about who you have to become!

Much love,
