I was talking to Lee, one of our ninjas the other day.

Lee doesn’t “really get hangovers” which makes me rather angry, but I can suppress that when talking to him.

Lee and his wife Emma have done great since joining us early last year.

But Lee had plateaued somewhat recently.

Progress slowed.

One of the things he’s recently done to bust through that plateau is to book his staff Christmas do to involve going to Airkik – the indoor parachuting thing near The Trafford Centre.

You have to be under a certain weight to do it, which Lee wasn’t.

So he gave himself two choices.

1. Turn up on the day, be too heavy and, let’s face it, be embarrassed in front of his staff who all greatly respect him.

2. Do what needs to be done and turn up on the day and be light enough to participate.

No bonus points for guessing which one he’s done.

It’s number two in case you hadn’t guessed.

There’s great benefit from having ‘skin in the game’.

Making it matter in that short term.

Being healthier and living longer is, I’m sure we’ll all agree, something we all want.

But it’s too far in the future to hold a massive amount of sway over today’s decisions.

It can always “wait until tomorrow”.

When we find a way to make it matter today……………

Because there aren’t enough ‘tomorrows’ left if we don’t…………..

That can be a great driver of success.

There’s no right or wrong way to do it.

It can be to book something that you have to be a certain weight or fitness level to do.

An event you want to look a certain way at.

It can be a bet with a friend.
