I was loaned a book t’other day.

By Lauren, one of our ninjas.

Lauren and husband Ben were on the podcast the other day by the way if you missed it – check it out here.

The book was ‘Jonathan Livingstone Seagull’ by Richard Bach.

About a seagull who does his own thing and doesn’t feel the need to confirm to the ‘normal’ way of doing things.

Must be something in the name 😉

Lots of great lessons, phrases and parallels in the book.

But one that really jumped out was this one;

“We choose our next world through what we learn in this one. Learn nothing, and the next world is the same as this one, all the same limitations and lead weights to overcome”.

Replace ‘world’ with ‘day’……..

And you kinda have the answer to all our problems.

We all face unexpected or unplanned for situations.

Works situations where there’s no healthy food.

Working late and not having anything healthy to hand.

Stuff happening (or not) that we hadn’t planned for.

First time it happens, it can’t be helped.

But if we continue to have such things happen to us?

Over and over again?

If we make the same mistakes repeatedly?

We are destined to live with “the same limitations and lead weights to overcome.”

Every time something goes wrong……..

It’s an opportunity………

To make sure it doesn’t happen again.

To stop and think what we can do next time it happens.

What things we can put in place to stop it happening?

Or to deal with it better when it happens?

Next time you don’t manage to do what you wanted or intended……….

Due to unforeseen circumstances.

Have a think………..

What can you do……….

What can you put in place so it doesn’t happen again?

Or you deal with it better when it does?

Remember – “Fool me once, shame on you.”

“Fool me twice, shame on me!”
