The other weekend I went to see my mum and that side of the family for Mother’s Day.

Whilst I was there, my nephew got a new game out.

It was called “More or less?”

And you had to guess if the actual answer for a questions was more or less / higher or lower than the answer given.

I’ve since played a variation of it for the finisher in the Monday Sessions.

And it got me thinking about a similar game we could play with our food intake.

Because it’s a regular conversation that I have with people when talking about tracking their food that they’re not sure what to input.

Someone else might be feeding them or they might have made a multi-ingredient recipe themselves.

And they’re not sure what to input into MyFitnessPal.

“How many calories would you say was in it?” I might ask.

“I’ve no idea” is a not uncommon response.

But we probably do have a rough idea.

And we could play that more or less game to narrow it down.

Was it more or less than 200 calories?

Probably more.

Was it moral less than 2000 calories?

Probably less.

And we can keep narrowing that down until we have a rough range.

Maybe err on the side of a higher number.

If it’s definitely “no more than a thousand” then put a thousand in (other numbers are available).

Find the general name of the meal and adjust portions until the total calories is 1,000 (or whatever number you’ve decided).

It won’t be mega precise but it’s better than nothing.

And putting something in will probably lead to better choices overall than using not being sure as some sort of justification to massively overconsume.

Much love,
