Back when I was in the second year at Uni (nearly 20 years ago 🙁 ) my house mates and I rather enjoyed watching the S Club 7 programmes Miami 7 and L.A. 7.

Sad I know.

I think it was mainly because we fancied Rachel.

In fact, surely that could’ve been the only reason?

Start Exercising Again

Anyway, S Club had a number of catchy songs.

One of which hits the nail on the head with the best way to approach our health and fitness.

“Don’t stop moving”.

Having to Start Exercising Again

Imagine never having to start exercising again.

Most people agree that they find the getting started the hardest bit.

So imagine never ever having to start again (or maybe just once more if you’re not currently doing anything –> come to our briefing meeting at RISE in Macclesfield).

It might sound unrealistic.

“What if I’m busy, unwell, on holiday, injured, etc” I hear you say.

## Note: I can’t actually hear you. That would be weird ##

It’s Not All or Nothing

The issue with those situations lies in our dichotomous thinking.

Black or white.

Perfect or not worth doing.

Just because we might not be able to make three sessions at RISE, doesn’t mean that nothing is the next option.

One or two GTP sessions with something else.

Trying something else if we genuinely can’t make it.

One or more walks.

One or more home body weight workouts.

One or more 5 minute stretches infront of the TV.

Something is always better than nothing,

And, most importantly, it STOPS US STOPPING.

We may need to slow down and speed up, sure.

But if we never, ever stop again, it’s just a case of speeding up again when circumstance allows.

Is there, genuinely, any reasons we couldn’t spend three lots of 5 minutes, out of 10,080 minutes in a week doing something with the intention of improving, maintaining or slowing the decline of our bodies?

Genuinely, is there?

I get that a little stretch in front of the TV may hardly seem worthwhile.

But it will do some good.

And, more importantly, stop you stopping.

The questions stops being “should / can I exercise this week” and becomes “what shall / can I do?”

There is no restarting, no “getting back into it”, no first session back.

When we just speed up and slow down, rather than stopping, it becomes a very different journey.

#dontstop

Much love,
