Another thing that came out of our ‘Coaching Day’ sessions last week was that bad stuff happens to everyone.
To varying degrees, sure.
But, more than anything, it’s how people chose to deal with the bad stuff that makes the biggest difference to how it affects, their body, health, etc.
A few members pointed out that the reason they were struggling with healthy eating, exercise, was the other stuff that was going on in their lives.
Ill / dying people.
Money troubles.
Difficult stuff at work.
Relationship problems.
And so on.
But it also came out in the conversations that there were plenty of others who had equally bad stuff going on, but hadn’t let it affect other areas.
Over the last several months I can think of the following stuff that’s happened to some of our ninjas:
Parent dying (x 3)
Husband dying
Brother dying
Other family member or friend dying (several)
Family member needing a lot of care (loads)
Separation / divorce (x 4)
Loss of job / income (x 5)
And so on.
All of those things are shit, there’s no denying it.
One of our ninjas asked another one who’d had two of the above happen to them how they made sure it didn’t affect the rest if the life.
“Shit happens” was their reply.
Accepting that, terrible as these things are, they ARE going to happen is a big step one to minimising their effect on our health and waistlines.
Before we’re done, they’re going to happen a lot more.
We can either have them happen and allow that to make us less healthy and happy.
Or we can have them happen and not allow them to make us less healthy and happy.
Easier said than done, of course.
But realising that is the crucial step one.
Remember – shit happens.
Much love,
