With the definite turn into mid-autumn, some of you may have recently ‘put your garden to bed for the winter’.

You know – a last mow of the lawn, clear up of leaves, neatening up the borders to make it look tidy.

Little will need doing now till things start growing again in the spring.

I must say, I’m not a big fan of gardening.

But I like having a nice garden to play in with the kids, sit out in and so on.

A necessary evil it is.

The other week I was cleaning out some weeds from the cracks between patio stones.

A particularly tiresome job, that one.

But it’s one that’s easy to over look.

And can quickly become a much bigger job if we leave it too long.

The odd five minutes here and there can keep on top of it.

If we skip that picking of the weeds, they can soon take over.

Those few five minutes saved turns into a few hours to sort.

Getting to it earlier is always less work.

And our bodies are much the same.

A few 45 minute workouts a week.

Quicker home workouts when circumstance dictates.

A few extra minutes here and there planning and arranging better food choices.

Not massive investments of time.

But they stop it becoming a huge job to rectify in years to come.

Even if the job of rectifying has already become a big, off putting one, we can, at least, start to ‘keep on top’ of it.

And slowly ‘tidy’ over time.

Like weeding, it can be a bit of a pain the arse at times.

We get that.

But, it’s better to keep of top of rather than having this huge hard (or impossible) to fix job in the months and years to come (LINK to get started on that).

Much love,

Jon ‘Alan Tichmarsh’ Hall and Matt ‘Charlie Dimock’ Nicholson
