I was talking to my middle son Jamie recently.
Older brother Oli’s behaviour has improved a lot recently.
But he still winds Jamie up from time to time / fairly regularly.
And, invariably, Jamie’s the one who lashes out and gets in trouble.
Whilst I’m working on Oli, I’m also trying to teach Jamie how to react better.
I told him the old adage “Sticks and stone will break my bones, but names will never hurt me”
He’s starting to understand that if he doesn’t react then Oli soon grows bored.
By not reacting you take away that person’s power.
You regain the power.
They stop doing what they’re doing because they’re not getting the reaction they desire.
It’s like flabotagers.
You know – the people who wave cake under your nose, call you boring and tell you that “you’ve changed” when you’re trying to live better.
By not reacting you take away that person’s power.
You regain the power.
They stop doing what they’re doing because they’re not getting the reaction they desire.
When we say no 19 times then give in………..
We’re just teaching them that they need to do it 20 times.
When they get that message, they stop.
Weight loss willpower
As always, not saying you can’t have cake or a drink or whatever else.
But do it on your terms. Use that weight loss willpower
Do what you want because you want to.
Keep your power in those situations.
And the whole thing gets much easier 🙂
