I mentioned in yesterday’s blog how over consumption over the weekend can lead to us continuing doing the same, even more than we, perhaps, “have to”.

I’m sure you have heard the term “fallen off the wagon”.

We’ve probably all used it.

It’s a term that’s become used more and more frequently in recent years.

A quick check on Google Ngram viewer (which shows the frequency of different words and their use in print media) shows a 43 fold increase in usage of it in the last 40 years.

It is, of course, generally used to explain why we’ve gone back to an old pattern of behaviour having changed that for a while.

We’ve been doing well with our eating, but then started eating more and / or what we consider to be less good options again.

Maybe we started drinking or drinking excessively having reduced it or stopped for a while.

You know the kind of thing.

I’ve got a couple of considerations for you around this “wagon” today and tomorrow.

Firstly, there is no wagon.

It doesn’t exist.

It’s just a mental construct we use to justify our choices.

Because, ultimately, that’s what they are.

Choices.

We just made some different choices.

And we’re looking for a way to justify that.

Because in reality, no choice that’s in front of us now ever has to be affected by choices that are behind us any more than we choose to.

What we eat or drink today is just a fresh choice.

What we ate or drank yesterday (or even 5 minutes ago) does not have to influence that.

If we choose to see each choice in our life with a degree of innocence……..

Taking it as a fresh choice unaffected by any other choices……..

Then life can get much easier.

There is no wagon.

You’re just deciding what you’re wanting to eat or drink (or whatever other behaviour we’re considering).

Let’s remember what’s important to us, what we value and what we’re working towards in our life (and get their quicker with proven support and a system that’s helped hundreds who’ve struggle before –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .

And just make that decision.

Much love,
