One of the main reason we do these daily blogs is to help develop ‘Know, Like and Trust’ with people who might be interested in what we do down here.

 

We realise that most FitPros are quite off putting to the vast majority of the population.

 

They have this expectation of super lean, young, permanently happy, exercise loving chicken and brocolli munchers.

 

Of people who won’t really ‘get’ the challenges they are facing.

 

So these blogs enable you to get to know us a bit.

 

Hopefully like us somewhat.

 

And trust us.

 

Because we know people often feel ‘burnt’ by our industry – they’ve tried things before, not got what the wanted or expected and stopped after a while feeling somewhat disillusioned.

However…………

 

I came to a realisation the other day.

 

I was on a group call with my coach (you know what I’m going to say – beware coaches who don’t ever get coached themselves).

 

And what he was saying made me realise………….

 

That these blogs (and the other stuff we do)…………

 

Serve just as much to help you…………

 

Trust yourself.

 

Because, you know, ultimately, that everything you do could / would work.

 

That any diet, if followed consistently as prescribed, would elicit weight loss.

 

That any exercise programme, if followed consistently as prescribed, would get us fitter and healthier.

 

But………

 

We’ve tried these things before.

 

And not been able to ‘stick to them’.

 

Often getting results initially, only to “fall off the wagon” and go back to old habits.

 

Often because they are unmaintainable.

 

Or boring.

 

Or both.

 

We may feel that we’ve let ourselves down.

 

Or that we “have no willpower”.

 

Or that “it’s different for us”.

 

Or we feel we’ve done exactly what we needed to and the result hasn’t come – the victim of rubbish or poorly explained advice.

 

People often feel they been ‘let down’ by both themselves and the health and fitness industry.

 

And they have little faith that this time will be different.

 

Will it be?

 

I can’t guarantee it I’m afraid.

 

Whilst we’ve had hundreds of amazing success stories……….

 

We’ve had people leave after weeks (days sometimes) having achieved Sweet FA!

 

What I can promise though…………

 

Is that the answer doesn’t lie in more information, in being told what to do yet again, in being made to feel bad or in being chased up like a naughty school child.

 

It lies in us, together, working on what’s happening between our ears.

 

The mindsets, the habits, the self limiting beliefs, the relationships with food and so on.

 

Hopefully, we’ve proved that we can be trusted after 6 1/2 years of doing this, getting amazing results and still selling out our programmes every month (whilst the Johnny come lately facilities that have opened up round here since we did continue to struggle to get enough members).

 

We just, sometimes, need to take some of those ‘brakes’ off.

 

The things that are holding us back and making it all harder than it has to be.

 

And to trust in ourselves.

 

That, whilst it won’t be easy, we can do it.

 

That progress won’t always be that consistent straight line forward, but that we can do two steps forward – one step back for long enough to take enough steps in the right direction.
