The final event in World’s Strongest Man is always the Atlas Stones.

Lifting a series of progressively heavier stone balls from the floor and placing them on barrels at approximately chest height.

And there are other similar events where weights get progressively heavier.

Deadlift ladders and the like

Another good analogy for life if you ask me (and, by reading my blog, you kinda did).

Start light and build up.

Whether that be literally, with regards to exercising……..

Or in adjustments to our food, sleep, general lifestyle, or any other situation.

We’re often tempted to do the equivalent of lifting the last Atlas Stone straight away.

Shifting from eating terribly to eating like an Olympic athlete.

From drinking and snacking loads to not drinking and snacking at all.

From not exercising at all to exercising several times a week.

All perfectly laudable intents of course.

But probably doomed to failure.

Too big a jump in one go.

Could we just do the equivalent of lifting that first stone?

Something that’s just a little more than what we’re doing now?

Get comfortable with that and then move up a level.

We might get to that final stone eventually.

But, either way, I’m pretty sure we’ll do more than if we just go straight to the hardest one.

Much love,

Jon ‘Charles’ Hall

P.S. I can’t think of any more strongman related parallels for now. I might revisit this next week.

P.P.S. If that ‘summer body’ hasn’t been happening, it will in here –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
