If we had a pound for every time we’d been asked “What do you eat?” we’d have………………

Let’s see……………….

Without exaggeration……………..

Probably a couple of grand, I’d think.

When talking with members, at social events, with friends, family and more.

And if we had a second pound for every time the person had looked a little disappointed with our answers………………

We’d probably have nearly the same again.

I think, a lot of the time, people are expecting an answer at one end of two extremes.

Either something like chicken, broccoli and water twenty one meals a week.

Or biscuits, chocolate, cake, ice cream and the like till it’s coming out of our ears.

Either something they just can’t do with their busy and challenging lives and is ok for us because we “live in a gym”.

Or we’re the lucky recipients of amazing metabolisms (whatever they are) that means we can eat whatever we like and never gain weight.

The truth is that we don’t eat all that differently from the person who’s asking.

Maybe more fruit, veg and leaner meats and less processed food (but still some).

Probably a bit more conscious of portion sizes.

Perhaps a bit more water and less other drinks (but still an amount).

Still a good social life and like a drink (but, maybe, tactically swap some of the choices we make here).

Possibly less snacking.

But nothing fundamentally different.

Still just living normal lives.

Just what we would consider ‘healthy eating’.

Most of the time.

Not a ‘diet’.

Not cutting anything out.

Not living like a monk.

Just making some tactical adjustments that add up over time.

Not particularly sexy, we know.

Not the sort of thing that would make us an Instagram influencer / multi level marketing ‘useless crap seller’.

But something that’s worked for us and hundreds of clients for many years.

While fad, restrictive diets come and go.

If you can’t imagine doing something, to some degree, for the rest of your life, it’s fairly pointless.

Speed up and slow down as circumstance and motivation dictates, sure.

But if it’s an approach you will, eventually, actually ‘stop’ and go back to what you were doing before, what’s the point?

We, and all our success stories, are just normal people.

Kids, injuries, illness, time commitments, challenges, frustrations, difficulties, hunger, cravings and everything else that can make things more difficult.

We, and they, just make enough changes so they add up over time.

And, if you’re not already, you can too 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Disappointment’ Hall and Matt ‘Disappeared’ Nicholson
