I mentioned on Monday about Tim from Buxton and his rubber band.

Sorry this is a day late – thought I should get the email about the ‘Guaranteed Bad Habit Changing Mini-Course’ out yesterday.

Those of you who are members with us will have probably guessed I’m referring to our ‘ninja band’ system.

For those that don’t know – we call our members ninjas.

Members are something gyms have.

People who pay and don’t go.

And no body notices or cares as long as they’re still paying.

So we call our guys ninjas.

And the ninja system is one of our ways of helping people keep motivated on their ‘journey to awesomeness’.

I’ts an 8 level system where people work up from White Wolf, through Yellow Viper and so on, up to Black Panther.

Gaining new wrist bands as they achieve each level.

Check out the picture at the top for my ninja bands.

It’s designed to recognize and reward progression on fitness and

It’s not about how much you can do, but how much you progress.

So it’s inclusive, unlike most motivational systems.

Infact it works so well that we affiliated a ‘plug and play’ version of it for other FitPros (Fitness Professionals) this summer and there are now 47 locations across the UK that use our system.

Which is mega cool 🙂

Anyway, back to Tim.

Tim did the 28 Day trial with us at Buxton last month.

And last 10.2lbs of body fat.

And is continuing with us ongoing.

Why wouldn’t he after such an awesome result?

Nice work Tim BTW – I know you’ll be reading this 🙂

I was catching up with Carl, Ollie and Ryan (the trainer at Buxton) the other day.

And Carl mentioned that Tim had said to him “Every time I face a difficult decision, I look at my Ninja Band and remember that I’m on a journey”.

I loved that!!!!

That’s exactly what we wanted when we launched the system.

And it’s interesting to see the direct correlation between how much people wear their band and how much weight they lose, how much fitter and healthier they get and so on.

It’s that constant reminder of your journey.

And the pledge that you’ve made to yourself.

I wear mine 24-7.

The only time I take them off is when Oli, my eldest son, likes to go diving for them in the pool.

Reminds me of the journey I’m on and makes the difficult decisions much easier.

I’m looking at them as I type now 🙂

You can see my current view in the image at the top of this article.

Some people use tattoos in the same way – to remind themselves of something.

So, if you’re one of our ninjas, wear your band with pride as a constant reminder of the promise you’ve made to yourself and the journey you’re on.

If you’re not with us, put something in place that will serve the same function.

A photo on the fridge.

Something next to your monitor.

Hell – get a tattoo 😉

That regular reminder will, like it does with Tim, help you no end.

Much love,

Jon ‘Read the PS for a story about tattoos that will make you laugh’ Hall

P.S. My girlfriend Alex (still not the same Alex in the initial email series) is a smart girl.

But she often says very silly things.

Her mother describes her as “intelligent but gormless”.

When we were away earlier this summer we were talking about Leigh, my brother-in-law’s, new tattoo.

And, if we were to get some ourselves, what we might have done.

Before my mother writes me out of her will, it was purely hypothetical.

I suggested I might have the kids names done.

And if she behaved, she might get a look in.

But to make it less painful I’d shorten it to “Al Ol and J”.

She replied with “And I could have “J Iz” on me” (Jon and Izzie).

I’ve not laughed so much in years.

It actually hurt my ribs.

I put this on Facebook at the time and my mother asked me to explain the joke as she didn’t get it.

If you don’t, google is your friend 🙂

P.P.S. I’ll get to Adam’s ‘Chicken Wednesdays’ on Friday, but have got a good one tomorrow about how the kids’ ‘Diddie Dance’ lesson makes me feel nervous and reminds me what it’s like for people walking in to see us at RISE.
