Did anyone else watch Neighbours in the late 90s?

I was student so we sometime watched it twice a day as that’s what crazy students do!

There was a character in it called Toadie.

Short for Toadfish.

Obviously!

Wikipedia tells me he’s still in it now after over 22 years!

Anyway………

He’d often have no food in.

And no money.

And when this would happen, his reaction would always be the same “Let’s get take out pizza”.

Which, obviously, makes no sense.

If you have little to no money, spending more on your food than you have to is daft.

A case of black or white thinking gone wrong.

We can’t do the ‘perfect version’ (having something already in, paid for and relatively cheap)………

So we bypass the next best version (going to the shop to get something relatively cheap)………..

And go to the ‘worst’ (or thereabouts) version (getting relatively expensive take out pizza).

Where more of us do this with our food is in terms of how ‘healthy’ a meal is.

Don’t have stuff in at home for a mega healthy, nutritious meal……….

Bypass the pretty good stuff we do have in…………

Straight to a bowl of cereal and a slice of cake.

Have to stop at a garage to get some lunch………..

Bypass the salad boxes, cooked meats, bottle of water, etc……….

And get a pack of crisps, flapjack and sugary drink.

And so on.

As always, I wouldn’t dream of telling you want to eat.

Your life, your choice (but check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you’re ready to start making the choices that will serve you better).

But if you’re eating rubbish because there aren’t any “healthy options”………..

Then that’s the same as Toadie and his takeout pizza.

And that worth remembering.

Life isn’t black and white.

If it can’t be perfect, pretty good is still great 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Stoney’ Hall and Matt ‘Stingray’ Nicholson
