If you’re reading this you’re probably on our mailing list.

## You may be reading it on the website via Facebook I suppose ##

People generally go on our mailing list as they want to find out about what we do.

Some then go onto become ninjas.

Some just happily read the daily blogs.

And some unsubscribe at some point.

Which is all cool.

Over the years we’ve had thousands join the mailing list.

So it’s natural we’ll then get some who decide they don’t like what we do for various reasons.

We got a response to the standard emails the other day.

Questioning the ’20lbs in 8 weeks weight loss challenge’.

Saying they thought it was unhealthy to lose weight that quickly.

We completely get where they’re coming from.

It’s considerably more than the government recommendations of 1/2 to 1 pound per week.

But that’s the idea.

It’s supposed to be a ‘challenge’.

And it’s supposed to be enough of a result to get people enthused about it.

A ‘4lbs in 8 weeks’ challenge wouldn’t get as many people keen to get involved.

And we wouldn’t then get the opportunity to turn that short term success into long term progress.

But………..

As to whether it’s ‘unhealthy’.

I can’t really buy into that.

I get that something extreme and not maintainable………

That will, in all likelihood, lead to the weight being regained (and more)……….

Should / could be considered unhealthy.

But………..

If someone has over 20lbs to lose……….

And eating not too much of a healthy, balanced diet……..

And doing regular, effective exercise………

Causes them to lose weight at that rate (which it does)………

Then surely it’s less healthy (or, at least, no different) to keep that 20lbs on?

I’m actually going to talk tomorrow about how FitPros often use ‘health’ as a justification.

And how losing weight won’t necessarily improve health.

But, at the very least, I can’t see it being less healthy to have lost the weight.

If it’s done in a sensible, maintainable, but also quick, way 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Too fast, fast down’ Hall and Matt ‘Too furious’ Nicholson
