Think of something you’ve gotten better at?

You know, some sort of skill.

Some ‘thing’ that you do.

That you’ve improved at doing.

How did that happen?

You trained yourself better, didn’t you?

Practice.

Improved gradually over time.

We freely accept that we’ve got better at stuff by training, by practice.

But it’s easy to forget that we might have done the opposite.

Got worse at something by training to be bad at it.

Or, more likely, training ourselves in the opposite.

We’ve gotten really good at making the food choices that, perhaps, haven’t served us well over time……..

By continuing to do them.

Our mind has become better and better at being where we don’t want it to be……..

Anxious, depressed, irritated…………

By us ‘practicing’ being there.

———- I know that there can be more to it than that, but that doesn’t also mean that going there more often doesn’t make it easier to go there again ——–

We get good at missing planned workouts by missing planned workouts.

We get good at not even booking in Sessions in the first place by not booking in Sessions in the first place.

We get good at being ‘flabotaged’ by those around us by being ‘flabotaged’ by those around us.

And so on.

We’ve gotten good at these things.

So good that it doesn’t even feel like a thing.

Probably happens on auto pilot to some degree.

Not always easy to change, sure.

But, like anything, it gets easier with practice.
