We’ve mentioned many times before that the average FitPro career is 18 months.

The majority of the people who enter our industry are gone within a few years.

Ultimately, in most cases, because they didn’t earn enough money,

Sure, the unsociable hours and other challenges of this business are factors.

But, if they’d been earning sufficient money, they would’ve put up with that, I’m sure.

When you have a successful business in an industry where most struggle………

You get asked for advice a lot.

Which is cool.

A lot of our friends are FitPros.

And we have no problem sharing our knowledge with them.

As countless others have done with us over the years.

We get asked the most about where we get our new members from.

Because, although our retention is great……..

You’ll never keep all your members forever.

So we need a steady stream of new people coming in to stop total numbers shrinking.

And we get the vast majority of our members from a managed referral process……

And from online marketing.

You know, Facebook ads, Google ads, etc.

When we mention this, other PTs responses are usually the same.

“Yeah, I spent £50 once on a Facebook ad and only got one client from it”.

Or similar.

To which, we’ll reply “We spend about a thousand a month on online advertising”.

“I wish I could afford that” comes the invariable response.

The thing is, though, we can’t afford not to spend that money.

If we didn’t, there wouldn’t be a business eventually.

We wouldn’t get that thousand pounds back.

We’d shrink by, say 5 members a month or more.

A year or two later, we’re bankrupt.

My kids no longer have a roof over their head, clothes on their backs and food in their mouths.

It’s a neccesarry investment we can’t afford to not spend.

Because, much as I enjoy what I do, if it ain’t feeding my kids, it can’t continue.

##############

The parallel, of course, is about the cost of what you may need to do to have the body, health, energy, longevity, etc you desire.

Sure, there is a cost.

Whether financial…….

Or in time, energy, effort, etc.

But can you afford not to?

Can you afford to have less energy for the things in your life?

Can you afford to have a body that doesn’t do everything you want it to do?

Can you afford an increased risk of ill health?

Can you afford an increased risk of dying younger?

###############

A powerful mindsets shift we’ve talked about before is to imagine coming from the other side of a situation.

We get that spending a grand on Facebook ads is scary when you haven’t don’t it before.

But when you look at it from our side, where we’re already in the position other FitPros would like to be in………

And would lose that without this investment……..

For a short term benefit………

It’s a no brainer.

Conversely, imagine you’d always eaten well, hydrated, trained regularly and effectively, destressed, etc, etc.

You’d always had a body you liked the look and feel of.

One that, statistically speaking, was less likely to get ill and more likely to last longer.

And someone suggested a new way of doing things.

“This will save you some time and money”

“But you’ll have to gain weight and be less happy with you’re body. You’ll also be more likely to get ill and die younger. Do you fancy it?”

Another no brainer, no?

You couldn’t afford to do that, I’m sure.

We know blogs like this will ruffle a few feathers.

People often feel we’re using talk of illness, death and unhappiness to ‘guilt’ them into joining us.

That’s not the case.

We’re helping people question self limiting beliefs.

Ways of viewing things we’ve often picked up from others that hold us back.

If someone then wants to find out more about we do, that’s cool.

They can do so here –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting 😉

If they do something else, that’s cool too!

Helping people to get past things that are holding them back is what this is all about 🙂

Much love,

P.S. Yesterday’s bonus point middle name was from ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ – just turning So Crates to Socrates wasn’t enough, I’m afraid!

P.P.S. Go on – a bonus point for those middle names, even though they’re pretty easy 🙂
