In the 1953 classic ‘The Wild One’, the Mildred character ask’s Marlon Brando’s Johnny “Hey Johnny, what are you rebelling against?”

“Whadda you got?” comes his oft quoted reply.

A classic example of teenage rebellion – looking for something, anything, to rebel against.

Something we all feel.

We don’t like being told what to do, do we?

And, more often than not, we find ourselves doing the opposite.

To prove some point.

Cutting our noses off to spite our faces.

It’s one of the reasons why most diets / approaches to eating rarely work long term.

People rebel.

They get fed up of ‘being told what to do’.

Being told what they can and can’t eat.

People like autonomy.

The ability to make their own choices.

Whenever people ask me what they can and can’t eat………

Or what they should or shouldn’t be doing……..

My answer is always the same.

“You can do or eat whatever you like”

I’ll then help them understands the impacts different choices will have on them achieving their goals.

How some choices will take them closer to where they want to be.

And some will take them further away.

But they can do whatever they like.

You can do whatever you like.

Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

It’s your life – live it how you like.

But understand how different choices will help or hinder.

Decide what your goals are and why they are important to you.

Take each decision as it comes.

And never regret the decisions you made 🙂

Much love,
