T’other night the wife was out.

Invited to the City game through work.

So, while the cat was away………

I collected, took to gymnastics, played with, did homework, fed, bathed, storied and put to bed the three kids.

And did four baskets of ironing.

Party time!

The only way I find ironing remotely bearable is to watch a film while I do it.

So, I popped Kingsman on.

A tongue in check ‘gentleman spy’ film, I really enjoyed it.

There was a great line it in.

From Hemmingway.

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility lies in being superior to your former self.”

It’s something worth remembering.

We’ve talked before about how going backwards is depressing.

Standing still is better, but, well, a bit boring.

Going forward is exciting though isn’t it?

Improving on what you used to be able to do, how much body fat you have, how you feel, etc keeps you enthused and motivated, no?

Doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing.

If you start competing with others, you can only really lose.

There’ll always be someone slimmer, faster, stronger, wealthier, happier etc than you.

But it doesn’t mean you can’t improve on all these things.

So, decide on which ways you’d like to be superior to your current self.

Work out what you need to do to get there.

And, just do it.

The motivation, enthusiasm, etc come as you improve.

Much love,
