I was watching one of the World Cup games the other week.

I actually can’t remember which one.

I think it was Portugal.

Probably Portugal.

#### As an aside, the only two international games I’ve ever watched live involved Portugal – against Czech Republic at Villa Park in Euro 96 and against USA in Seoul at the 2002 World Cup ####

Someone scored a cracking goal.

I think it was Ronaldo.

Probably Ronaldo.

Banged it in from distance with a looping shot.

Lee, Ric, etc feel free to reply and let me know which goal I’m thinking of?

Watching the slow mo reply I commented on how ‘head down’ he was.

He hadn’t looked towards the goal for the duration of the replay.

Takes the ball looking in the direction it came from.

Head down as he cracks it.

“The goal never moves” the wife chirped in.

“I got that from a ‘Gazza’s soccer skills’ video in the early 90s” she continued.

“It also had Carlton Palmer advising that “When the refs not looking, give em some of that” she continued whilst digging me in the ribs with her elbow.

Little Steps to Weight Loss

Putting aside the spousal abuse (in front of the kids too), she made a good point.

The goal never moves.

We know where it is.

And looking at it from time to time is necessary.

But looking at it too much will actually hinder us.

Little Steps to Weight Loss

If we just concentrate on our final target it can be dispiriting.

We have to fail every day until we succeed.

Every day asking ourselves “Am I X stone?”

Or “Can I lift Y kg?”

Or “Can I run Z?”

And so on.

“No” every day.

Until we get to that “Yes”.

Or, more likely, get put off and kinda wander of the pitch.

Know where the goal is, sure.

But it won’t move.

Concentrate on the little steps to weight loss.

The passes back and forth.

The building continued pressure.

They’ll be the odd ‘screaming shot’ of faster progress.

But most of the ‘game’ will me made of the little moves (don’t forget to ‘Kick Off’ by clicking this link –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

Concentrate on them and the goal will come with time.

Much love,

P.S. Go on – two points for those middle names. It’s not Gordon Banks BTW 😉
