Ahhhh, motivation.

The age old thing we think we all need.

That we’re lacking.

That’s the answer to getting in better shape (or whatever change we’re wanting to make).

I’ll have you consider that you’ve always been motivated.

Have you ever thought “I don’t want to lose weight”?

Or “I don’t want to be fitter or healthier”?

Not talking about the things you have to do to get that.

But that in itself.

If a genie had turned up at any time over the last few years or decades and offered to make you as slim, energetic, fit and healthy as you’d have liked by magic……………

Would you have ever said no?

I doubt it.

You’ve always been motivated to achieve the result.

Just, perhaps, not by the process.

So, it stands to reason, it’s the process, and how we feel about it that we need to look at, no?

Sometimes to change the process itself.

Sometimes to change how we perceive it.

Have you ever wanted to do, let’s say, 20 minutes of squats, deadlifts, press ups, shoulder presses and the like?

If I texted you asked if you wanted to come down here and do that with me, would you say yes?

I wouldn’t.

But how about going somewhere welcoming and having fun with like minded people whilst doing something that will help you achieve your goal?

Do you feel motivated by ‘cutting out chocolate, cake, biscuit and alcohol’?

Nope, me neither.

How about “eating lots of lovely, tasty, convenient, nutritious meals that will make you feel better in the short and long term”?

You get the idea.

It’s not the result that you lack motivation for.

It’s the process.

The answer to that is finding the process you like the most (cough, might be with us, cough –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting) and challenging and re-framing how you see certain parts of that process 🙂

Much love,
