Before anyone gets too excited / concerned, you’ve hopefully seen what I mean by exposing yourself in yesterday’s blog 😉

One of my goals I’m working on at the moment is to be able to do a human flag.

Public fitness goals

Hold myself out horizontally from a vertical pole like I’m doing a Mexican wave.

Or the Y from YMCA.

I’ve tried working on it in the past and it’s ended up falling by the wayside.

I’ve restarted recently and am already losing momentum.

So I decided I needed to apply a bit of pressure to the situation.

To make it matter if I did or didn’t do what I’ve said I would.

So I’ve challenged Andy (a coach here at RISE if you didn’t know).

## It’s similar to Challenge Anneka, but he doesn’t look anywhere near as good in a green jumpsuit 😉 ##

Andy’s seen that I’m doing it and has started practising himself.

So I knew he’d be up for it.

And I laid down a challenge.

Me and him.

Mano a mano.

A ‘Human Flag off’.

In 10 weeks.

Go at the same time and the last one to drop wins (check the Facebook event at www.facebook.com/events/167179743994834).

Having laid down this challenge, there are four potential outcomes (in order of preference to me);

1. I train hard and beat Andy

2. I train hard and Andy beats me

3. I don’t do enough training but do more than I am now and Andy beats me

4. I don’t do enough and just kinda ‘drop out’

Number four won’t happen.

Number three isn’t my first choice but will involve me getting better – the entire point of this.

Numbers two and one involve me getting a lot better!

I’ll be aiming for 1, but both will be a win.

Just one a slightly bigger win than the other.

Public fitness goals

It’s public.

It’s on Facebook.

It will happen.

We’ve both put our head above the parapet and guaranteed that (in one small way at least) we will improve over the coming months. Thanks to public fitness goals.

Find a way to do the same for the things you want to achieve?

Much love,

Jon ‘Union Jack’ Hall and Matt ‘Tricolour’ Nicholson

P.S. Find our more meeting next Tuesday. Check RISE in Macclesfield’s briefing meeting page if you like the sound an approach that helps you apply just the right amount of pressure to help you succeed rather than either leaving to your own devices or giving you 300 other things to add in to your already busy and challenging lives.
