Speaking of running (yesterday’s blog)…………

As you may also be, I’m in a number of ‘groups’ on Facebook.

Some personal, some work related.

Some of those groups open to anyone, some part of paid programmes I / we are part of.

There’s one free one I’m in for UK based FitPros.

It’s alright.

But, as with most things in life, the paid groups are way more useful.

The other day, I happened across a question posted in this group by a fellow FitPro.

Asking about the “best ways to improve someone’s running”.

There was a myriad of responses from other FitPros.

Talking about working on felxibility.

Muscle activation techniques.

Core work.

And much more.

But, as you’ve probably guessed from the title of this blog, not a single one mentioned doing some running,

simple exercise advice

Now, I know that running isn’t the only thing that you’d do to get better at running.

But it should probably form a fairly major part of such a programme, no?

It’s a mistake our industry makes a lot.

Spending the majority of their time focussing on the ‘finer points’.

Things that, while beneficial, probably aren’t the biggest wins for most.

Simple Exercise Advice

Possibly thinking that the basics aren’t worth mentioning.

That “people already know that”.

Or that they need to ‘justify’ their role by giving people advanced sounding things to do.

Forgetting that our role is, ultimately, to help people get the result they joined us for.

Again, there’s more to it than that. More than the simple exercise advice.

But if we’re not doing everything we can to help someone get the result they desire, I’m not sure we can ever say we’re doing a good job.

With your weight loss and health journey there are finer points we can help you with.

When necessary.

But doing some exercise three times a week, being in a calorie deficit and prioritising protein are your biggest wins. That’s simple exercise advice.

If you’re not doing that, then doing that is your next step.

Not the thing that’s four steps further down the line.

### Check our find-out-more meeting at RISE in Macclesfield if you want to do the above whilst having fun with like-minded people in an intimidation-free atmosphere ###

When you are doing them we can look at the ‘quality’ of those food sources, the overall balance of macros (protein, fat and carbs), the specifics of the exercise and much more.

But these won’t do anything without the first steps.

In your quest to get better at ‘running’……….

Don’t forget to ‘go for a run’!
